The Higher Institute for Banking Studies (ISEB) was jointly established by the Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) and the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), and published in the Official Gazette n°. 4 dated January 27, 2013, under Decree n° 9749. The Institute will award the Bachelor degree and the professional master according to the laws and regulations in force in Lebanon. Its mission is to provide academic training to executives that fit into the financial sector including banking, and to effectively participate in the development of the companies that employ them. The ISEB vocational education is made of matching theoretical and technical knowledge and practical cases. The partnership between the USJ and the ABL allow the ISEB to bring the most suitable programs for a university degree in banking. Indeed, the ISEB’s bachelor degree and master programs are designed to provide the student with skills to quickly exercise tasks that require a sense of responsibility, maturity and ability to communicate in a clear, precise and easy by all means of communication.
ISEB accepts students in the course of the bachelor degree for the academic year 2013-2014; registration for Master will start from the academic year 2014-2015 onwards. In addition, the ISEB will take over the activities initiated by Centre for Banking Studies (CEB) for the last three years, to be in charge of completing the cycle of the former regime of the enrolled student between 2010 and 2012.

ISEB also provides the holders of two degrees previously awarded by the CEB:

Diploma of Bank Specialized Studies (DESB) and the Bank Management Senior Degree (DSGB), special programs to round off their training for the obtaining of the bachelor Degree and / or Master, provided that they will comply with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education whole requirements. The beginning of the program set for holders of DESB is set for October 2013 and for the holders of DSGB will follow in 2014.

ISEB’s students will be subject to ongoing monitoring to enable them to validate their knowledge and learning methods.

Degree course
  • - Degree in Banking Studies - 6 semesters (180 credits).
  • - Special program for holders of "Diploma of Bank Specialized Studies (DESB)" - two (2) semesters.
  • - Diploma of Bank Specialized Studies (DESB) – DESB cycle for registered students in September of both 2011 and 2012 years.
  • - Higher Banking Diploma - DSGB cycle for registered students in December of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 years.

Ongoing Training
  • - Duration of training varies between one to twelve months. Specialized certificates are delivered in the various areas of bank’s activities.
