Pursuant to the decision of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Association of Banks in Lebanon taken on March 18, 2022, Dr. Fadi Salim Khalaf has been appointed as Secretary General of the Association of Banks in Lebanon starting April 2022.
Dr. Fadi Khalaf has extensive experience in the local, regional, and international banking and financial fields, as he served as Secretary General of the Arab Federation of Exchanges for ten consecutive years (2009 – 2019) and as Chairman and CEO of Beirut Stock Exchange for ten consecutive years as well (1999 – 2009).
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Paris I – Sorbonne – France. The subject of his Ph.D. thesis is "The Efficiency of Central Banks Interventions on the Foreign Exchange Markets". He is also the writer of the book "L’effondrement de la Livre Libanaise 1982 -1992. Une histoire qui nous hante".
Dr. Fadi Khalaf is an independent member of several banking boards and committees, and he worked as a Financial Consultant and General Manager in France. He is also a member of the French Association of Technical Analysts (AFATE) in France since 1991.
He is an economist and a financial and banking consultant, and a member of the MENA-OECD Working Group on Corporate Governance, with various research, publications, and international conferences in the field of financial markets to his credit.
