ABL Board of Directors received yesterday at ABL premises a higher economic delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, chaired by the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of the Sultanate, Said Ben Saleh Al Kouyoumi in the presence of his counterpart in Lebanon Mohammed Choucair, the ambassador of the Sultanate in Lebanon Ahmad Ben Barakat Al Brahim and Lebanon’s ambassador to Oman Houssam Diab.
President Torbey warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted the benefits of the Lebanese banking sector, its strength and immunity under the supervision of the monetary and supervisory authorities, and which professional competencies and proven expertise are confirmed, and the opening on banking and financial markets in the Arab region and worldwide. He calls on investing in this successful sector. Board members responded to questions that were raised by the delegation namely those concerning relations between the Association and the Banque du Liban (Central Bank of Lebanon) and the working conditions of the Islamic banks and their mechanisms of individual loans. The Association expressed the will of the Lebanese banks to follow the trends that have been jointly identified by the presidents of the Chamber of Commerce in both countries and to strengthen bilateral economic relations by exploring promising opportunities and available fields to reach the goal in the near future.
