The president of the Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL), Dr. Joseph Torbey, and the rector of the Saint Joseph University (USJ), Father Salim Daccache, announced yesterday during a conference, the creation of the Higher Institute for Banking Studies (ISEB) and the beginning of students’ registration in July for the 2013-2014 year.
"The banking sector plays a vital role in the Lebanese economy and it is our duty to make the new generation benefit from this positive momentum," said Mr. Torbey. "The ABL has been recommending for a long time the reconciliation of professional and academic sectors, to train young students to the realities of the job market," said the president of the ABL and he emphasized that many universities around the world adopt such cooperation. According to Mr. Torbey, all parties come out winners: the universities, the students, and the professional sector. "The training program for the new institute was set up according to the needs of the banking sector," said Mr. Torbey. ISEB opens its doors to the first class on September 1st, 2013.
Father Daccache said that "this project is a pilot project, in several standard, the Centre for Banking Studies has received for forty three (43) years, employees of all banks operating in Lebanon, which attended programs of the first course of study or the Superior Cycle program. The Centre has provided them with the knowledge and education level. "
