ABL Board of Directors organized a lunch held at the Eau de Vie restaurant, to honor Mr. Samir Assaf, appointed in January 2011, Chief Executif of Global Banking and Markets at HSBC.
ABL Board Members, the Vice-Governor of the Central Bank (BDL), Dr. Haroutioun Samuelian, Members of the Control Committee and high ranking officers of HSBC attended the lunch.
President Torbey congratulated Mr. Assaf and wished him success in assuming his new worldwide responsibilities.
Mr. Assaf thanked the Association for this initiative and declared that his rise in the banking sector is mainly due to the teamwork and dedication of its employees; while recalling the spirit of initiative, flexibility and effectiveness of executives Lebanese expatriates. Mr. Assaf wished that bankers provide job opportunities abroad to lebanese, especially young people, remembering the chance and the opportunity to work in Paris given by a Lebanese banker (Bank Saradar) during a critical period on both personal and the Lebanon. Mr. Assaf also praised the dynamic Lebanese banking sector stressing, however, in light of developments, the need to enhance prevention and reinforce internal control systems.
