Bank of Beirut and Caritas Lebanon Sign MOU Launching of Affinity Card and Banking Facilities

Bank of Beirut s.a.l Chairman & CEO, Mr. Salim Sfeir signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Caritas-Lebanon, represented by its President Father Simon Faddoul and its Secretary General, Attorney Elie Cordahi, to launch a Caritas Affinity Card and several banking facilities in support of Caritas mission and community endeavors.

The MOU has been signed at Caritas Head Office in Sin El Fil, in the presence of Father Simon Faddoul, President of Caritas Lebanon, Caritas members of the Board, administrative director and staff, along with chiefs of sectors, and Me. Joseph Farah, President of Caritas MENA Region. Attending from Bank of Beirut were Mr. Salim Sfeir, Chairman -CEO, Mr. George Aouad - Head of Retail and Branches and a number of the Bank’s executives, along with Mr. Basel Eltell, MasterCard’s Market Manager for the Levant region.

Following the welcome note of Mr. Andre Koueik, Program Director at Caritas Lebanon, both Sfeir and Faddoul expressed their pleasure in having this MOU signed. Faddoul said: “This partnership between Bank of Beirut and Caritas Lebanon contributes to the progress of the Lebanese society, especially that both institutions committed themselves to achieving noble objectives: Caritas through its ongoing quest to serve marginalized groups and Bank of Beirut through its professional scope and social responsibility towards the Lebanese community. This new MOU with Bank of Beirut, said Faddoul, is the translation of a partnership that we wish to go deeper to serve the human being and society in Lebanon.”

For his part, Sfeir highlighted that “Bank of Beirut has not and will not spare any effort to promote the welfare of the human being in Lebanon and that his Bank will pursue its endeavors to serve the Lebanese youth and promote its attachment to the land of their fathers and grandfathers”. “The noble principles that brought us together with Caritas, Sfeir said, can be a road map for other institutions and organizations operating in this country." Representing MasterCard, Mr. Basel Eltell stressed the company’s full support for this initiative with Caritas, highlighting MasterCard’s continuing commitment to the Lebanese Community.

Then, Mr. George Aouad - Head of Retail and Branches at Bank of Beirut gave a more detailed presentation about the facilities designed by Bank of Beirut for Caritas community, and which include: The Caritas Affinity Credit Card whereby a part of the earnings will be channeled to the support of Caritas mission and activities; an Educational Loan designed for vocational schools’ students, in addition to the micro-credit loan, previously launched in cooperation  with Caritas, as well as various competitive banking facilities designed for the Caritas community.

Following the signature, Father Faddoul offered the Caritas medal to Mr. Salim Sfeir who presented, in his turn, the new Affinity Card to the Caritas Lebanon Bureau members.
