Banque Libano-Française (BLF) held a panel to discuss sustainability issues during the Beirut Energy Forum on September 10, 2015 at Le Royal Hotel.
Resident Representative of the International Finance Corporation for Lebanon and Syria, Thomas Jacobs, Professor of Management and Kamal Shair Endowed Chair in Leadership at the American University of Beirut, Dima Jamali, Journalist and Media Trainer, Paula Yacoubian, as well as BLF Head of International and Member of the Executive Committee, Maurice Iskandar, tackled global and local sustainability initiatives.
In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), BLF also awarded the three winners of its 2015 MasterCard Earth Card Competition which theme was “Environmental Awareness”, bringing the total amount granted to the competition green projects over the past four years to USD 160.000. The funding of these projects is generated by the revenues of BLF Earth MasterCard credit card launched in 2011 in partnership with the UNDP.
The 2015 winning projects are: “The illumination of the promenade of Saida stadium by bike powered electricity generators” by Culture & Science Foundation, “Guerilla gardening Beirut” by Art Hake initiative, in addition to the BLF special prize offered to “The Ecotown” by Bahr Loubnan.
The 2016 theme of the Earth Card Competition “Solid Waste Management” was then announced and participants were invited to submit their proposals before February 12, 2016 on www.eblf.com/green.
