In a sunny festive atmosphere, Banque Libano-Française (BLF) inaugurated the fence of the construction site of its new headquarters in Mar Mikhaël, during Achrafieh 2020, on Sunday, May 28, 2017, in the presence of Raya Raphaël Nahas, BLF General Manager, managers and employees of the Bank, as well as students from Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) and Mar Mikhaël residents.
The fence of BLF’s construction site will be converted during the whole period of the works, into a temporary exhibition spot dedicated to hosting various artistic ventures. The first project displayed is a photography assignment, “Faces of Mar Mikhaël”, by ALBA first year students who managed to capture through their lenses, the essence of one of the oldest and most authentic neighborhoods in Beirut, of which BLF will soon become a main component. Pictures of the residents, traders, artists, artisans, students, clubbers… of Mar Mikhaël are now exhibited on the fence, showing both the talent of the Lebanese youth and the many lively faces of this community.
Banque Libano-Française (BLF) had launched an international architecture competition to build its new headquarters in a strategic plot located at the Northern main entrance of Beirut. Facing the sea and the Port, connected to the dynamic and creative, yet traditional Mar Mikhael area, close to the modernist building of Electricité du Liban, the site will place the Bank at the heart of Lebanon economic and artistic development, as the region has become the cradle of all industrial and cultural activities.
