Citi Lebanon Alumni Network Launched

December 17 2012

In celebration of Citi’s 200th anniversary, Citi Lebanon recently launched the Citi Lebanon Alumni Network during an alumni reception in Beirut. Officiated by Elissar Farah Antonios, Citi Country Officer for Lebanon, the event which is a part of a global initiative to strengthen ties with former employees of the Bank, was attended by around 60 Citi Alumni, members of the Citi Senior Management team, as well as other prominent guests.

This event was a great opportunity for Alumni to meet up with former colleagues, reminisce about memorable experiences and share success stories. The Lebanese Chapter of Citi Alumni Network will also be an opportunity for those who have left the organization, to reconnect both with former colleagues and with Citi.

Commenting on the launch, Elissar said: “It is such an honor to launch the Alumni Network for Lebanon as we celebrate Citi’s 200 year anniversary. Citi has built a long and rich heritage over the past 200 years and each of our Alumni has contributed to this great history.”

HE Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, and a Citi Alumnus, Dr. Haroutioun Samuelian, attended the event. “It was a great opportunity to dive in our glorious past at Citi with our dearest former colleagues. The event was superb and delicately organized; emotions flowed, memories and souvenirs revived.” commented HE Dr. Samuelian.

In addition to being a networking tool for former employees, the Alumni Network website will keep them abreast of the latest happenings in the company and join upcoming events, thus enabling them to become a continued part of the Citi family.  Previous Citi employees or retirees with more than two years of work experience at Citi and who meet the defined eligibility criteria can apply for membership to this Network by registering at www.citialumninetwork.com website.

Citigroup’s presence in Lebanon dates back to the 1950s when Beirut was the bank’s hub for the region. Since re-establishing its fully licensed Lebanon branch in 1996, the bank has been offering a full range of corporate and investment banking services, including traditional trade, lending, and hedging products to major corporations and financial institutions operating in the country, as well as Public Sector entities.

In addition, Citibank Lebanon has evolved into an active corporate citizen with a particular interest in supporting financial education, microfinance and capacity building through various grants & scholarship support provided annually through the Citi Foundation.
