Fransabank Launches Eco-friendly Projects

April 22 2016

Within its Go Green strategy, and in line with its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Fransabank has implemented a series of environmentally friendly projects “Eco-Projects”, adopted by the Bank and undertaken within several sustainable energy and environmentally friendly initiatives.

For the past two consecutive years, and in cooperation with arcenciel, Fransabank launched the Bouchons Roulants initiative, with the objective, on one hand, to educate Fransabank’s employees on the importance of sorting and recycling plastic caps and bottles in order to preserve the environment, and on the other hand, to provide the bestowment of wheelchairs to a person with special needs.

Since 2014, Fransabank spurred hundreds of employees at its Beirut headquarters and Hamra main branch to collect the plastic bottles and caps, not just from their workplace, but also from their homes.  With over two and half tons collected and sent for recycling, this initiative resulted in the acquisition of two wheelchairs.  Moreover, Fransabank’s management matched the number of wheelchairs donated through an equal contribution to employees’ efforts. As a result, four wheelchairs were donated to people with special needs since 2014.

Fransabank’s plans are underway to execute this project in all its branches in Lebanon, and with its biggest branch network in the country, it will be hopefully also creating a nationwide momentum.

Within the same scope, Fransabank also launched the Paper Recycling initiative, aiming at reducing the use of paper at its headquarters and branches by encouraging the use of electronic communication, minimizing the use of printed paper, adopting double-sided printing, among others. This initiative has also been a success with over 244.31 tons of paper recycled in the years 2014 and 2015.

As for the effective promotion of these environmentally friendly initiatives and spreading environmental awareness to the customers,  the Bank  is placing starting April, at selected branches, open-topped recycling bins to promote waste sorting.

Through these eco-initiatives and many other energy saving projects, Fransabank has proven to be pioneering in providing banking and finance, specialized for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects through funds of International Finance Institutions and Central Bank’s incentive programs.

Moreover, Fransabank is planning a series of projects and initiatives to promote environmental awareness and education on waste sorting and recycling as well as support and financing of related projects nationwide.
