As part of its visit to Lebanon, the delegation of the Iraqi banking sector, which includes 22 officials from the Central Bank of Iraq and Iraqi banks as well as some members of the project and financial development project in Iraq, visited on Thursday 7 July at 11:30 the Association of Banks in Lebanon. BDL is the body that coordinated the visit of the Iraqi delegation. They were accompanied by the Director of the Economic Division at the BDL, Dr. Najib Choucair. In addition, representatives of Lebanese banks as well as Iraqi banks operating in Lebanon also participated in the meeting.
The Secretary General of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, Dr. Makram Sader, presented the structure of the ABL and its creation, he emphasized its specific role in the banking and national levels. He also briefed the delegation on the latest economic developments in Lebanon with the presentation of the main indicators of economic growth and public finances and external accounts and the financial intermediation activity, giving an overview of the Lebanese banking sector activities and performance.
Issues of common interest were discussed in order to strengthen the banking relationship between the two countries.
The ABL has invited the delegation for lunch planned in their honor which was attended by the Vice-Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Saad Andari and representatives of Lebanese and Iraqi banks operating in Lebanon.
