The Minister of Labor Selim Jreissaty in the caretaker Government sponsored the signing of the new Collective Labor Agreement between the Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) represented by its President, Dr. François Bassil and the Secretary General of the Association, Dr. Makram Sader, the Federation of the union of Bank employees in Lebanon, Georges Hajj, president of the Federation and Assad Khoury, President of the Union of Bank Employees in Beirut.
The signing was attended by the Acting General Manager of the Ministry of Labor Abdullah Razzouk and the president of the General Confederation of the Lebanese Workers (CGTL), Ghassan Ghosn.
On this occasion, Mr. Jreissati expressed "the joy of a successful achieved mediation by the signing of the new Agreement … " . He added: "We all know that the Lebanese banking sector is the most organized sector, which is considered the largest employer in Lebanon and the first pillar of the stability of our social and political system… "
Dr. Bassil said: "On behalf of the Board of Directors and myself, I thank all those who have contributed directly or indirectly to the success of the mediation, with all our thanks and gratitude ...". He further stated that "banks’ management maintained throughout the period of the suspended Agreement 2008-2009 the stipulated allowances and benefits, which clearly indicates the desire of banks to ensure comfort and tranquility of their Employees…".
For his part, Georges Hajj thanked all the efforts deployed by various negotiators and listed the advantages of the new Collective Labor Agreement 2013-2014.
Afterwards, signature and document exchanges took place.
