Bkassine Municipality, represented by its Mayor Habib Faris, launched an exceptional initiative under the title "Your Home Never Felt So Natural" in order to support citizens of Jezzine in general and Bkassine area in particular enhance the beauty of their houses, while preserving environment and energy. Chairman of the Federation of Jezzine municipalities, Mr. Khalil Harfouch expressed his gratitude "to all participants who have worked to develop the project and make it possible, those are Fransabank, the Central Bank of Lebanon, and the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation in the Ministry of Energy and Water". Portraying Jezzine as "a distinctive touristic spot, with its mild climate and wonderful nature", he highlighted "the cultural heritage aspect of its villages,” wishing to “reestablish the villages in their traditional looks".
For this particular purpose, Fransabank developed and designed a targeted Eco - Friendly Loan with flexible conditions, aiming at the reduction of household expenses, energy consumption, and at the same time preserving the environment. The loan is granted to cover all the costs of isolating walls at houses as well as ceilings that will be covered with traditional tiles, and constructing double glazing and water heaters through solar energy. The past two years, Fransabank had launched a campaign and introduced a series of innovative Energy Loans to individuals and institutions in an aim to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment. Currently, the Bank is working on developing loans, accounts and products, seeking through these quality initiatives to open the door for participation in energy conservation and effective treatment of environmental challenges.
In this context, Mr. Philippe El Hajj, Fransabank’s Deputy General Manager and Head of Retail and Branch Network, mentioned that this initiative falls under the Bank’s corporate social responsibility, which translates this time in supporting residential projects, pointing out that "Fransabank has already signed the first batch of requests for the eco-friendly loans, which are sixteen files until the moment". Recently, and in Jezzine area as well, Fransabank has participated in the "Partnership and Witness Residences" project.
For his part, Mr. Wael Hamdan, Executive Director of Lebanon Central Bank, emphasized the Central Bank’s commitment to environmental, energetic, and social responsibility in its broad economic sense, saying that "the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Riad Salameh works hard to devise financial mechanisms and geometries, providing incentives for the private sector to create an acceptable economic growth, during one of the darkest periods Lebanon and economic sectors are passing through", looking forward to make this initiative today, "a major milestone to stimulate investment in the specialized techniques of energy saving and renewable energy".
