Following the press release published by the Banque du Liban (Central Bank) tackling its decision to pay USD 400 in “fresh” and their equivalent in Lebanese pounds, the Board of Directors of the Association of Banks in Lebanon would like to explain the following:

- The ABL appreciates the efforts exerted during this period of time by the Central bank, which is headed by His Excellency the Governor Riad Salameh, aiming at maintaining monetary stability and refunding the majority of deposits in foreign currencies to small depositors.

- The letter sent from the ABL to His Excellency the Governor Riad Salameh preceded the Central bank’s press release.

- The ABL is ready to discuss the central’s bank circular that will be published soon and serve the public interest.
